CAN

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to see and live a quality life.

The foundation not only treats but also ensures that people can protect and care for their own eye health.

In 1986, Major General Kawi Kampeeran, Deputy Commander of the National Security Center, Supreme Command Headquarters, Ministry of Defense, received retinal detachment surgery by Dr. Somsaran Wattanachote at Rajavithi Hospital until he regained his normal vision. He saw the suffering of patients as well as the hardships of doctors and nurses who treated patients with insufficient funds, so he collected money with his friends to set up a fund called the “Rajavithi Eye Protection Foundation.”

On October 18, 1994, the Ministry of Interior permitted the registration of a name change to the “People’s Eye Protection Foundation.”

On August 16, 1995, the Ministry of Finance announced the announcement of the Ministry of Finance No. 34, designating the People's Eye Protection Foundation as the 279th public charity organization or institution. Therefore, donations to the People's Eye Protection Foundation can be deducted from income tax according to the law.

MISSION

The People's Eye Care Foundation performs cataract surgery and supports research to improve the treatment of eye diseases with greater effectiveness. It also focuses on developing medical personnel's knowledge about eye care and educating the public on basic eye care. Additionally, the Foundation supports the medical team at Tipitaka Eye Hospital with permanent medical staff.

The Foundation regularly organizes mobile medical units to provide free cataract surgeries and lens replacement in remote areas for those in need. Since its establishment over 30 years ago (since the foundation was approved), the Foundation has performed more than 40,000 cataract surgeries and lens replacements.
